Kristin Pierce

The furnace is one of the more important systems in the household. Unfortunately, it will stop working correctly at some point. Here are three common issues you'll probably run into and effective repairs for them.

Malfunctioning Burners

The burners are one of the more important components of your residential furnace. When they stop working correctly, you need inspect them quickly to get your furnace back to working order. A lot of times, burners malfunction when they get too dirty.

If you notice a lot of dirt and debris on them, clean them thoroughly with a portable vacuum. Make sure you get all sides. You may even need to scrub built-up residues away. If the burners still aren't working correctly, they may need to be repaired or replaced by a professional technician.

Insufficient Heat

There may be a point in time when your furnace no longer produces sufficient heat. This doesn't mean you need to find a replacement, however. The problem could be with the air filter. If it's completely covered in dirt and debris, then the airflow of your furnace could be restricted. Fixing this issue is as easy as setting up a new air filter.

If this air filter wasn't changed regularly, then your air ducts could be dirty and restrict airflow as well. For this problem, you need to hire a professional duct cleaning company. They have specialized vacuums that can reach all the way inside your ductwork, cleaning all surfaces quickly and safely.

Faulty Thermostat

Sometimes your residential furnace may be in pristine condition. Instead, the problem may lie with the thermostat controlling it. It may not send signals to your furnace anymore. This can be frustrating on those colder days of the year. Since thermostats involve wires and electricity, your best bet of fixing this problem is to hire a furnace repair technician.

If any part is severely damaged, it will be replaced on the spot. If your furnace is no longer operable, the technician can set up a completely new thermostat.
